How did ¨Peter La Anguila¨ became famous

A recipe for success? is very difficult to know... what some people might think is funny others can consider it the most idiotic thing on the planet.

Peter La Anguila (Peter The Eel) is considered the new generation of hispanic rappers. Instead of the typical  reggaeton singers with bling-bling, tattoos and good bodies, Peter La Anguila has captured massive attention in YouTube due to his ridiculous dancing moves.

Peter La Anguila

This is considered the latino "Ganganm Style", people all over the world are dancing to the rhythm of this catchy song. The song produced The Pichy Films  quickly became a social phenomenon, the first day it was posted on Youtube it received 15,000 hits. What's the success of this viral video? We believe the combination of success is a funny and incredible skinny character who moves like an eel in the water when dancing.
The Pichy Films is a group of Cuban/Americans from Miami Florida. Alejandro González and Maikito Rodríguez are the producers and owners of Pichy films; also the male dancers of the video. In just a couple months the video “El Estilo de Peter La Anguila”(The Style of Peter the Eel) has reached around 30 million views in YouTube, but not only that, many thousands also follow the character on many of the social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
The Miami based Pichy Boys are two brother who are very know in South Florida for their parodies of television shows and Hollywood movies. However their most successful hit has become Peter La Anguila.
It is incredible how this three young Cubans have already travel many cities around the world to attend many presentations of  “El Estilo de Peter La Anguila”. Just last February they came from a very extended European tour where they visited several cities in Germany, Spain, France. There most solid presentations occur in Mexico and Central America.
The recipe for a successful viral video? Be creative, show your skills and show the world a different way to see things.

Fashion Privacy online, can this be possible?

As all of us who surf the web know, online security these days is such a “strange” thing to manage. We can find “everything” if not “almost everything” that we can think of especially when we are trying to get the latest gossip on a fashion related icon or even a friend of school. We are definitely not secure anymore, the minute that we take the time to upload some pictures online, or write some comments on others we have to be aware that they would reach as many people who search for this topic. Another example can be when people comment on certain stuff others are able to see as well so there would always be a connection for others to find what they are looking for or might not be looking for.

Carolina Herrera Head designer of Herrera House

It is incredibly easy to access anything online these days; it is very easy to find accessible and massive amounts of information specially related to famous public figures and fashion icons. In fashion this is crucial and it has affected the industry in negative ways. In 2009 a very know case went public as the designer Carolina Herrera found previews of his spring collection released to the internet before it was exposed to the public by their public relations team. Apparently people working under house of Herrera took some pictures of the fabrics they were using to construct the garments, the sketches and finalized product and decided to release it to the world before any show was programed. This is a very basic example of how something can go viral and cause a lot of trouble.   remain anonymous under this type of situations; they feel very protected by this medias when revealing information about hot trends or topics that are wanted.

Example of Clothing Patterns

Another very know case actually happened with a small clothing firm called Le Parisien.  People working inside their firm decided to use the Internet to share the secrets and sell patterns from their garment collections, they were pretty successful selling this couture garments and made quite decent money. I found out about this actually on a public relation firm’s Facebook website. It is incredible how even little competitors can get massive exposure by having a story out who can get the readers eye.

Carolina Herrera Garments
There are many stories like this where fashion labels and designers have being put on the spotlight due to invasion of privacy by their employees. It is vital to always be aware that keeping secrets is a very though thing in today's world; especially with the Internet and the accessibility people have nowadays to social media.

Some interesting links about many privacy situations are found below (not only fashion):

Taxation what now?

It is incredible how people these days are deciding more and more to shop online instead of going to the actual store to feel and try the clothes own. Consumer are become in some way “lazy” when it comes to drive to the mall, stand and do the long lines in the cash register. But there is a better catch to this whole new idea of online shopping and laws come in hand with this good news.

Since the beginning of Internet shopping there has been a complexity of how to tax online. The on going question of who to tax? Should the tax be collected in the state where the goods are shipped or where the goods are received? Is so hard to know this rules but now all of this seems to be over thanks to a law that may change the different ways we see online shopping.

In the state of California there is a new law concerning Internet retailers. They would collect taxes as high as 9.75% when a good is purchased over the Internet. As this law has been carefully managed many more states seem to soon follow this adjustment for taxes.

How Internet retailers would expand and grow!

After doing a little bit of research I was able to emphasize how this can benefit incredible the online retailers and how people would start shopping online more and more. I was able to understand how an online competitor such as GILT is capturing the market of selling clothing online.  This is a high retail store that sells many high-end designer clothes, gowns, purses and some of the finest and most costly items in the market. As we understand the more costly and item is the more money we tend to pay for its tax, but what about just paying a shipping cost and receiving your item in a couple of days? This seems a more attractive option for these expensive little things we like to indulge ourselves with! at least to me. This is how GILT and many of these high-end online stores would build a more solid empire, and for personal experience how I see myself shopping there.

The incredible adjustments that taxation is making these days to open doors to more giants online specially for the clothing industry would in some kind of way put little fellas on a scale and evaluate how they would compete with this big guys. Little stores that used to give their customers great forms of delivery would in some kind way have to step their game up what would be next if every states implements better taxation? Where would the actual clothing lines stand?

some links for you to learn a little of whats going on...

How LinkedIn gave me the opportunity off my dreams…use it!

It is amazing how social media these days has taken so much of what the fashion industry is about. LinkedIn has become such an important media exposure for upcoming designers to interact with people in the fashion industry. Opportunities are in the fingertips of the people who like to use these amazing tools to make profits, in my own experiences with pages such as LinkedIn I can relate and say I got the amazing opportunity to work with the big retail chain JC Penney. Through meeting their head fashion-marketing advisor I was offered the opportunity to intern for their window display department in south Florida.

It was such a great experience to fly to their headquarters in Texas and being interview for a job with such an amazing benefits. I got this opportunity by reaching and sending a message to the head fashion-marketing advisor. I’m a fan of the store and I’m very pleased to see the huge changes they are doing to be able to approach younger community. JC Penney is usually a store reached by the older people and by implementing designers and changing the displays of the areas a lot of younger people are becoming regulars.

The opportunities are out there. You are a click away of sending a message like I did. Many people can reach others and “connect” through this social media websites.

In my opinion there is a very big margin of growth for these websites. To stay competitive and growing they have to develop more features, as they are becoming so needy I today’s world. I believe LinkedIn would be hiring directly through the website and even probably have interviews directly online. The sky is the limit and these giants are definitely here to stay. If we take in deep consideration websites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Tumblr are among the top 50 most visited websites GLOBALLY! They don’t only provide entertainment for their users but they also facilitate them with different opportunities such as networking, sharing of media and free exposure.

The Fashion Industry needs these websites to stay running for many profitable reasons. Facebook helps brands create a strong presence on their consumers; an example is this page for designer Tory Burch.

They interact with their consumers not only to show them what they have to bring to the table but also to show consumers how they can relate to them. In this example I was able to pull how Tory Burch asks its fans about their favorite burger place, pretty smart huh? By consumers feeling relate to the brand not only in the sense of style but on the different factors of the person who makes the brand, consumers can feel identified by the brand ideology.

These websites are here to stay and it is a matter of time for them to take over basic functions for hiring, finding jobs and other related work fuctions. People think Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn are just for fun? Well, start using it for the the profitable reasons!

Fashion Retailers are taking Social Media by STORM!

The fashion industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries online; research has shown a year-on-year profit increase rise of 32% since 2009.
Economy is taking a big hit since quite some time now, but surprisingly and industry that always seems to survive these big punches is the Fashion Retail industry. Nowadays they are many possible and free resources to reach clients all over the world, making people more accessible to see the different fashion trends they are happening each season.
Social media is forming a very critical part in the advertising and marketing strategy designers are using to promote their lines. Is important to understand the beauties of social media and how this can influence the buying decision process of many. When you are able to search through Instagram and see the new summer collection for the Michael Kors resort apparel, this is an amazing window for consumers like “me” to be able to see and read more details about each piece. I consider vital for designers and clothing companies to be promoting and creating that consumer awareness when sharing their products with potential costumers. It is important to take fully advantages of these medias. A vivid example of this can be when we spend our spare time on Facebook and we go to Fashion fan pages of certain brands and we are able to go through many of the new items they have currently in stores. By searching and educating ourselves we can find many articles of our interest that we would go and purchase either on the online media or the physical store. I was able to “shop” through visiting a Facebook Fan page and that discover the new merchandise they have, I didn’t need to go to the store website or any other form of clothing retail store, I was able to fall in love with the new Michael Kors Lime green speedy bag all from my Facebook page.
E-marketing is growing by the second helping many industries achieve their designated quotas when launching a product or a campaign. It is so simple to go through a clothing website and look through their items, look for one you can easily fall in love. When finding that very special item the new sources of online marketing strategies make it even easier for you to share your new “discovery” with all your friends through sites such as Facebook and Twitter. You like those new sassy pair of floral heels? Why don’t you share the pictures with your friends on Facebook and get their opinions? Is very simply such as clicking a button and DONE! The store is receiving free advertising in almost every part of the world by sharing it with your girlfriends on your Facebook page.

Another point of free publicity this stores can obtain from clients is the amazing world of reviews! Many give their thoughts about different items that they have previously owned and help new customers feel more confident especially when they are doing an online purchase. They share their experiences such as the fabric, how it looks, the fit and how confortable the pieces are when you wear them, the reviews are found on many sources such as the store website, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, customers tend to write reviews as comments when somebody posts a picture of a piece they previously bought or returned.
